Jovanna Hernandez, a Swarthmore College student, conducted extensive research on the roles and status of women in Poland and Germany while participating in AEA’s 2011 Comparative Women’s and Gender Studies in Europe program. She was recently selected to present her final paper, “A Bubbling Cauldron: The Roles and Status of Women in Poland and Germany within the Context of Nationalism, the Nation-State, Ultra Nationalist Movements, Multiculturalism, and the European Union” at the Geis Student Research on Women Conference. Student presenters are selected through a competitive process and students from any college in the The Greater Philadelphia Women’s Studies Consortium are eligible. The Consortium includes such schools as Swarthmore College, Temple University, Bryn Mawr, University of Pennsylvania, Ursinus College, and Drexel University. The Geis Student Research on Women Conference will be held this Saturday, April 28, at the University of Delaware. Congratulations to Jovanna on her outstanding achievement!
