Professor Lucka was Program Director of AEA’s Europe in Transition program from 2004-2009 and is now lead faculty for Europe and Islam: Cultures & Communities. On the program, she will be supervising the academic content, Independent Research projects, and teaching the Sociology course (SOC 342 Social Stratification and Migration in Europe: Ethnicity, Gender and Class). Her main academic interests include sociological theory, sociology of social change, political sociology (civil society, political systems, etc.), and history of ideas. In her research, she focuses on the issues of socio-political transformation in Central Europe. Her work appears in numerous publications and she has presented extensively throughout Europe. In the fall of 2004, she spent a semester at Antioch College (Ohio) as a visiting professor.
