Study in Chiang Mai and Bodh Gaya in Fall 2024!
Explore Buddhism in India through interdisciplinary courses and Buddhist meditation traditions while living in a monastery near the site of Buddha Shakyamuni’s enlightenment.

Orientation for Buddhist Studies in India 2024 will take place in Chiang Mai! After an introduction to Buddhism in Thailand, faculty, staff, and students travel to Bodh Gaya, India, and take up residence in the Burmese Vihar.

Carleton’s Buddhist Studies in India invites undergraduate students to study in Thailand and India in Fall 2024. The Burmese Vihar in Bodh Gaya has hosted Buddhist Studies in India for over 40 years. Buddhist Studies in India offers meditation practice and the study of philosophy, anthropology and the history of Buddhism in a safe and authentic environment.

Since 1984, Women’s and Gender Studies in Europe has offered students a unique opportunity to explore feminist and queer theory in practice across Western and East Central Europe. Interaction with academics, politicians, activists, and homestay hosts encourages comparative approaches to independent research projects. Live and study in some of Tanzania’s world-renowned protected areas in the Maasai Steppe and Serengeti ecosystems. Learn from communities practicing different livelihoods, including agro-pastoralists, semi-nomadic pastoralists and hunter-gatherers.

Study with experienced local faculty and conduct independent study projects under the guidance of regional experts, take introductory Swahili language, and connect with the community surrounding the MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation.
