Faculty
Dr. Suzanne Kolb (Associate Professor of Environmental Science, Antioch University) has served as Director for Brazilian Ecosystems: The Protection and Management of Biodiversity since 1999. She earned her PhD in Ecology from the University of Georgia’s Institute of Ecology and her BS in Biology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She has conducted field research on habitat restoration in Brazil and Costa Rica, which has been funded by the World Wildlife Fund, the Smithsonian Institution, and the National Science Foundation.

The Program Director conducts the on-site orientation session, serves as the lead instructor, facilitates discussions, guides apprenticeships, and evaluates students’ work. He is assisted by a Resident Coordinator and by a Program Assistant, typically a program alum.

Brazilian Faculty & Staff
Program faculty include biologists from the Universidade Federal do Parana, the Universidade Federal do Mato Grosso, and The National Institute for Research in the Amazon, as well as directors of Brazilian conservation organizations and park systems.
Resident Coordinator and Language Instructor
Jucimara Delattre Rissio is a Portuguese language instructor at WORDS Institute in Curitiba, and organizes language instruction, homestays, and program logistics for the Brazilian Ecosystems program.
Administrative Support
The Antioch Education Abroad office provides administrative support for the Brazilian Ecosystems program.
