Curriculum
The Japan and Its Buddhist Traditions program offers the following courses:
Required Courses:
Core Courses – Students must take one or two of the following three courses:
- LLCJ Japanese Language (Beginning, Intermediate, or Advanced)
- RELS 351 Japanese Religions: Buddhism, Shinto, and the New Religions
- SOC 331 Japanese Society and Cultural Traditions

Credit & Evaluation
Students may earn from twelve to sixteen semester credits from Antioch University for successful completion of the program. Students should take at least one core course, as well as Practice and Theory of Buddism in Japan and Field Research. A second core course or a language course may be added in order to earn a maximum of sixteen credits.
Evaluations are given in written and/or letter grade form, as required by the student’s home institution.
