Accreditation, Evaluation and Transcripts
Accreditation
As a part of Antioch University, Antioch Education Abroad (AEA) is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in Chicago and is authorized by the Ohio Board of Regents.
Evaluation and Course Credit
In their course work, AEA students are evaluated based on the following: research papers, group discussions, journals, tests, exams, participation, attendance, and response papers. AEA students receive a letter grade and a narrative evaluation for each course completed. The Antioch University transcript will be sent directly to the student’s home institution. Students can earn up to 16 undergraduate semester credits for courses completed on an AEA program. In our pre-admission advising, we will provide students with any additional information they need and complete syllabi upon request. It is ultimately the student’s home institution that determines how or if these credits apply to the student’s degree. We recommend that students discuss the application of credits earned on an AEA program with an advisor on their home campus prior to the start of the program.
Requesting a Transcript
After students complete an AEA program, they will receive copies of their narrative evaluations from the program director. We also send students’ Antioch University transcripts and narrative evaluations to their home institution (either to the study abroad office or the registrar’s office at the address indicated by students on their application to AEA). If students would like an official transcript for their own records, for a graduate school application, or for any other reason, they may request a transcript through the Antioch University Records Office.
