Insurance
Health insurance for all students studying abroad on an AEA program is required. Check your primary health insurance policy (usually students have coverage through their school or parents’ insurance) to review your coverage eligibility abroad, including the specific country or countries where you will be traveling. Some colleges and universities provide additional travel health and emergency insurance policies to their students who are studying abroad. Check with your study abroad office, and inform them of the International Student Identity Card policy (see below) that all students studying abroad with AEA will receive.
International Student Identity Card (ISIC)
To assist students in assuring full health coverage while abroad, AEA provides each student with additional insurance coverage through ISIC. As a part of your acceptance to any AEA program, you are required to have an International Student Identity Card, offered through STA Travel and provided to you by AEA. You will receive the information and required forms in your acceptance package. If you already have an ISIC card or if you are not eligible for one (due to auditor status), no reduction in program fees will be given.
ISIC offers basic travel health insurance for a year from the date of issue, anytime you are outside the U.S. Individuals not covered by their parents’ or home institution’s’ travel health insurance policies are encouraged to purchase ISIC Premium Insurance for an additional fee. We will provide further details about this option, upon acceptance to an AEA program.
