Naturalist Internships

The Outdoor Education Center in conjunction with Antioch University offers environmental education internships two times a year (January to June and August to December). Imagine spending an academic term instilling environmental awareness with the thousand-acre nature preserve as your outdoor classroom.

Winter Spring 2009 Staff
Naturalist interns teach environmental and natural history curriculum to elementary and middle school students participating in the Glen Helen residential program. Educational hikes focus on environmental problem solving, geology, stream study, wildlife ecology, living history, and other related topics.


Interns earn 10 graduate or 12 undergraduate credits through Antioch University. Interns are also provided with room and board (including vegetarian and vegan friendly meals), plus a stipend of $260 per month.

Summer Employment

We have one more job opening for Ecocamp 2009. You will work in a beautiful outdoor setting. Camp staff consists of six Naturalists, six Dorm Counselors, two Camp Coordinators, and kitchen staff. We are currently hiring for our kitchen assistant possition.

Ecocamp staff

Kitchen Assistant
Brief Description of Duties:
The primary responsibility of this position is running the dish machine for up to 75 campers and 15 staff members for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday-Friday. The Dishwasher also assists the cook with meal preparation and with cleaning responsibilities in the kitchen.

Summary of Qualifications:
1) Positive role model for children.
2) Must be at least 18 years old.
3) Enthusiastic about living and working in the Eastern Deciduous Forest.
4) Before camp begins, standard first aid and CPR certification.
5) Flexibility, enthusiasm, sense of humor.

Salary:
$134 per week; room and board provided (weekends included)
