WYSO Exceeds Fall Fund Drive Goal
Posted on Monday, October 11th, 2010
Public Radio station WYSO 91.3 exceeded their fall Fund Drive goal and finished early. The drive had been scheduled to last through Sunday morning October 10, but
the $190,000 goal was reached on the Friday night before that, during Rev Cool’s program, “Around the Fringe.”
There were more than 1,100 pledges and twenty five percent of them were new members.
“We had a great week, we’re tired but very, very happy,” says WYSO general manager Neenah Ellis. “Scores of volunteers from all over the Miami Valley gave their time
answering phones and going on the air with us to pitch, and that made it fun,” says Ellis.
On-air guests included NPR’s Guy Raz, host of “Weekend All Things Considered,” musician Alison Brown, who was in town from Nashville, Tennessee for a performance at the Clark State Performing Arts Center and folksinger and community activist Sy Kahn.
WYSO had raised $201,157.00 as of Monday morning and Ellis expects that figure to go higher because pledges continue to come in throughout October.
“To be able to exceed our goal in this economy is incredibly encouraging,” Ellis says. “We have big plans for the future. We want to make more local programs, to get
more local voices on the air,” she said.
WYSO 91.3 is licensed to Antioch University with studios in Yellow Springs. It serves the entire Miami Valley on multiple platforms: fm broadcast, HD broadcast, internet streaming at WYSO.org and multiple podcasts.
