Pari Sabety was appointed Vice Chancellor and CFO of Antioch University in 2011. She comes to AU from her most recent experience as the CFO and Cabinet member for Governor Ted Strickland, State of Ohio from 2007 to 2011, managing a state budget of $56 billion and a department of 200 professionals. Pari served as the senior fiscal leader and primary public face as the Administration guided the state through the worst recession in 50 years.
Ms. Sabety’s interests are at the nexus of finance and information technology. Her work in establishing Ohio Shared Services has been featured in business cases for Harvard and Gartner, won the 2010 President’s Award for Innovation from the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers and was featured for the 2010 Oracle Titan Award. In 2008, Pari’s leadership was recognized by Government Technology Magazine as one of the “Top 25 Doers and Dreamers” in deploying Ohio’s extensive ERP platform.
Ms. Sabety founded and directed the Urban Markets Initiative for the Center on Urban and Metropolitan Policy at the Brookings Institution. She also directed the Technology Policy Group, an initiative of the Ohio Supercomputer Center at The Ohio State University, which focused on the emerging challenges and barriers to widespread adoption of high-performance computing and networking capabilities nationwide.
Pari began her career in public accounting for Arthur Andersen, then moved into public service for Ohio Governor Richard F. Celeste. They partnered to operate a consulting firm, Celeste and Sabety, which focused on technology-driven economic development strategies for regions throughout the US.
Pari obtained her BA in History from Bryn Mawr College and her MA in Business Administration from Rutgers University School of Business and a Masters of Foreign Service, Concentration in Arab Studies (with distinction) from Georgetown University.
Pari is a member of the Board of Directors for Policy Matters Ohio and serves on the Advisory Board for The Urban Child Institute in Memphis, Tennessee.
Deborah (Deb) Caraway

Deb Caraway joined Antioch University in 1969 and is currently serving as Director of Business Operations and University Accounting in the University Systems Office located in Yellow Springs, OH. In this capacity she manages the offices of student accounts, accounts payable and student loans. Deb also supervises the accounting operations for Antioch University Midwest, the Antioch University Ph.D Program in Leadership & Change, the Antioch University Education Abroad Program and the University Systems Offices. Her areas of expertise are in accounting, budget/finance, student accounts, accounts payable, financial aid and Datatel Colleague Financial/Student Systems applications.
Since July 2008, Deb has served as Interim CFO for Antioch University Santa Barbara, and commutes regularly to the Santa Barbara campus. Her responsibilities and authority at AUSB include supervision of finances as well as budget planning and oversight. She also served as Interim CFO at Antioch College from March 2007-June 2008.
Deb lives in Springfield, OH, but continues to maintain a strong connection to Yellow Springs. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Yellow Springs Federal Credit Union and is a supporter of the local public radio station, 91.3 WYSO.
Membership affiliations and continuing education training include the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Datatel User’s Group, Ohio Bursar’s Association and NACUBO.
Virginia Dowse

Virginia Dowse is the Director of Finance and Budget Planning for Antioch University. Her responsibilities include investments, internal audit, accounting, financial reporting and analysis, tax and financial regulatory reporting, development of the Chancellor’s office annual operating budget, and coordination of the University-wide budget process.
Prior to joining to Antioch University, Virginia served as an Audit Manager at Deloitte & Touche and an Audit Senior at Arthur Andersen in Chicago, Cincinnati and Columbus. As an auditor she served several higher education institutions including Northwestern University, The Ohio State University and the University of Cincinnati. Her client list also included several non-profit organizations and government entities.
Virginia is a licensed CPA in Ohio and Illinois. She earned her B.S. in Business Administration: Accounting from Drake University.
