PhD in Leadership and Change Residencies
As an intensive-residency doctoral program, attendance at four meetings a year is required and, we believe, critical to the student’s success in the program during the pre-candidacy years. The requirement includes the week-long summer residency and three weekend residencies each year for the first two years. In the third year, students attend three residencies, augmented by a set of virtual learning activities and virtual support residencies. And, if students have not advanced to candidacy prior to the 4th year, then they participate in virtual support residencies until they do advance to candidacy.
The residencies are intense gatherings combining seminars, required workshops, guest lectures, student meetings with faculty, peer discussions, and student presentations. Integrative sessions are scheduled throughout the residency to help students make connection between the learning activities, their lived experiences and the core curriculum’s readings and presentations.
Beginning in AY 2011-12 students will have the opportunity to attend international residencies every other year in conjunction with the international venue of the International Leadership Association Conference.
