Our Master of Education (MEd) with Preliminary Multiple Subject Credential does so much more than prepare you for teacher credentialing. With an emphasis on intellectual development, ecological literacy, diversity, and inclusive learning, our specially designed curriculum prepares you to meet the needs of California’s diverse learners. Through experiential education and hands-on learning opportunities, you’ll accelerate your knowledge beyond traditional professional preparation and be prepared for implementation in your classroom.

The Master’s in Education with a Multiple Subject Credential is 61 quarter until program – after completing the 53 quarter unit credential, candidates can proceed add 18 quarter units (6 courses) for the degree. The goal of the degree is to provide a deep dive into courses and ideas that could not be covered in the credential courses.
The Master’s in Education prepares educators with the skills needed to change the world through education. Courses are designed to tap into leadership potential, cultivate an ability to foster positive impact and create the conditions for meaningful learning and development. Whether you are seeking to further your career, develop new skills, or enrich and deepen your knowledge to make an even greater impact on the world, the degree will offer exceptional academic preparation, personal and professional development, and opportunities for real-world engagement in just 2 quarters beyond the credential.
Successful completion of all credential classes
Utilizing the work of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) and the connection to Induction course work, the following six courses make up the degree and all are required.
- TEP-6710: Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning
- TEP-6720: Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning
- TEP-6730: Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning
- TEP-6740: Planning Instruction & Designing Learning Experiences for all Students
- TEP-6750: Assessing Students for Learning
- TEP-6760: Developing as a Professional Educator
Within these courses, candidates will engage with the faculty instructor to broaden the topics covered that relate to their classroom experience.

The Multiple Subject Credential authorizes the holder to teach in self-contained classrooms such as classroom settings in most elementary schools. However, a teacher authorized for multiple subject instruction may be assigned to teach in any self-contained classroom (preschool, K-12, or in classes organized primarily for adults). In addition, the holder of a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential may serve in a core or team teaching setting.
