Antioch University CARES Relief Fund

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act was passed by Congress and signed into law to provide economic relief related to COVID-19. The Higher Education Emergency Relief fund (HEERF), one section of the CARES Act, provided funds to schools to use for emergency financial aid grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus/program operations related to the pandemic.

The U.S. Department of Education recently provided guidance to colleges and universities for the distribution of these emergency financial aid grants to students, intended to offset the cost of eligible expenses such as food, housing, technology, health care, and child care.

Because the CARES Act funding to universities can only be used to help students who took a financial hit from the closure of campus facilities in early March, the only expenses that can be claimed by Antioch University students are expenses associated with the loss of on-site campus services or with our move to remote instruction.  These services include but are not limited to computer use and any associated software programs or online services needed to complete academic coursework or research, access to scanners, access to printers and printing supplies, and library materials. Costs associated with our move to remote instruction include but are not limited to course readers, enhanced WiFi service or internet speed in your home, laptops or other devices necessary for course access, or other expenses associated with the establishment of a home environment conducive to participation in your classes.

We have developed a simple process for eligible students to request these funds.

If you feel you may qualify for this emergency grant due to the disruption of campus/program operations resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, please refer to the e-mail sent by your respective Provost, or log into AUDirect to review the qualifications and complete the CARES Act Funding request form.

Unfortunately, the U.S. Department of Education does not allow these funds to be used for international students, undocumented students, non-matriculated students or students enrolled in distance-only degree programs. If you are a student from one of these groups, there may be other types of emergency aid available to you. In this case, please reach out to your campus student services team or your respective Provost.

Whether you qualify for these funds or not, you are all part of the Antioch family and we are here to support you!

If you have questions or concerns about this process, please contact your respective provost or reach out directly to Antioch University Financial Aid at [email protected].
