Passionate about Civil Rights? Interested in American history? Looking to expand your education?

Join us on February 21st for a free discussion and book signing with sociologist and Antioch University Seattle Professor Emeritus Mary Lou Finley, co-editor of the book The Chicago Freedom Movement: Martin Luther King Jr. and Civil Rights Activism in the North. Dr. Finley served on Dr. King’s staff in Chicago in the 1960s, helping to establish his Lawndale apartment as part of his fair housing and tenant’s rights movements. Dr. Finley also spearheads Antioch University Seattle’s annual Historical and Educational Civil Rights Tour of the South, which provides our Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies students with an opportunity to earn social justice college credit and to tour key sites for the civil rights movement.

Prior to the reception and Dr. Finley’s presentation, Antioch University Seattle will host an information session for prospective students interested in learning more about the university and its Bachelor of Arts Programs. Admissions staff will also be available after the book signing for additional Q&A.

Books may be purchased for $35, cash or check only.

This event is made possible by the generous support of Guild Seattle.
