Discriminatory Land Use Policies | November 21
November 21, 2019 @ 6:00 pm PST

The City of Culver City is getting ready to update it’s General Plan! In coordination with this effort, the City is hosting an exciting Speaker Series to discuss critical issues affecting the City, the region, and beyond. The entire community is invited to join in the discussion!
Please join us on Thursday, November 21 to hear Richard Rothstein discuss how local, state, and federal policies segregated cities across the nation. He’ll talk about the challenges and opportunities ahead to fix the ongoing impacts of those policies, some of which are still in place. John Kent will discuss Culver City’s founding as a whites-only town and offer insight into how national racial policies were applied and implemented here. Kelly Lytle Hernández will moderate a Q&A following the presentations. Richard Rothstein will be available to sign copies of his book, The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America, before the presentations begin.
This event is part of the Culver City Speaker Series 2019
Complimentary on-site child care can be arranged in advance. Please RSVP for this event.
