Mr. Sun Lushan, Consul-General of China & Dr. Benjamin Cohen

Panelists Mr. Lushan and Dr. Cohen will discuss the complex relationship between the United States and China, co-sponsored by Antioch MBA and SB-Weihai Sister City Association. Topics to be covered include:

  • Role of our sister cities
  • Prospects for economic competition and partnership
  • Potential for political conflict and cooperation

Over the years, US-China relations have evolved from hostile stand-offs to a complex mix of trade partnership and intensifying political rivalry. China, one of our largest trading partners and soon to be the biggest economy in the world by Purchasing Power Parity, is not a nation that we can disregard. Our mutually intricate relationship will affect not just our two countries, but the world as a whole.

Given the rising tensions in our global community, it’s time for us to reach out and explore what may come. In this workshop, we will focus on how those tensions might affect the future of US-China relations. We will also examine the original idea of Sister Cities, the belief that ordinary people on both sides of the world are capable of comprehending the complexities of international affairs, and that the understanding of all points of view can potentially contribute to a positive outcome for many people globally. Join us for an exciting evening of international affairs and open dialogue.

An audience Q&A will follow. Join us for this free event on Friday, November 3, held at AUSB in Community Hall.

RSVP strongly recommended. Please email [email protected]
