One Billion Rising – “Rise Up and Break The Chains” Dance

During the week of February 12 – 17 students and faculty from Antioch University New England’s Dance/ Movement Therapy and Counseling Program will host a series of special events to highlight prevention of violence against women as part of the One Billion Rising 2018 Solidarity movement.
The highlight will be a movement expression created by students and faculty of Antioch’s Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling Program “Rise Up And Break The Chains” dance.
Two performance will be held. The first performance will be held at on Tuesday, February 13 at 12:00 in the Antioch University New England lobby. The second performance will be on Wednesday, Feb 14th at 12:00 on Central Square, Keene, NH. Both performances are free and open to the public. At the Feb. 14th event on Central Square there will be resources on local violence prevention services and more.
This event is part of the One Billion Rising Revolution 2018: “Solidarity.” One Billion Rising is the biggest mass action to end violence against women in human history. The campaign, launched on Valentine’s Day 2012, began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that 1 in 3 women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at 7 billion, this adds up to more than ONE BILLION WOMEN AND GIRLS.
