During the 20th century, Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. brought to the world a great gift: the power of nonviolence.They showed the world how to fight injustice with the power of love and great faith in human possibility.
In this participatory workshop we will explore the Six Principles of Nonviolence as developed by Martin Luther King, Jr., looking to see how they might play a role in our personal develo pment and our intention tocreate a more just, peaceful, and sustainable future.
Mary Lou Finley, PhDserved on Martin Luther King’s staff in the mid-1960s and has been teaching about nonviolence for more than 30 years. She is a certified Kingian Nonviolence trainer, working with the Addie Wyatt Center for Nonviolence Training in Chicago. Mary Lou is a sociologist and Professor Emeritus at Antioch University Seattle, and is co-editor of the recent book,The Chicago Freedom Movement: Martin Luther King, Jr. and Civil Rights Activism in the North.
