
Symposium on Latino Mental Health, Education, and Community

freeAntioch University Santa Barbara presents a 5-event symposium that explores research, expertise, and cultural competence to reduce disparities in education and mental health service delivery in Latino communities. Faculty and practitioner-scholars from our Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology program will share their research and expertise in matters related to the intersection of Latino/a mental health, the pedagogy of Latino children, and community engagement.
Dates and times
Symposia are held on January 14, February 25, March 18, April 22, and June 10, 2017, from 9 am to 1 pm on each date. The symposium is a series of five events which may be attended individually; attendance at all five is not required.
Location
Each event will be held at the Antioch University Santa Barbara campus at 602 Anacapa Street in downtown Santa Barbara. Parking is available at two nearby city lots (Lot 10 and Lot 11), which are fee-based lots.
Who should attend
Community members are welcome to attend, as well as students and interns. The symposium is appropriate for therapists, clinicians, counselors, teachers, school-based mental health professionals, school district executives, graduate school professors, social workers, psychologists, and allied health care disciplines. CE hours are available.
Cost & CE hours
Anyone not receiving CE hours (continuing education hours) may attend for free. CE hours are offered to all clinicians licensed by the California Board of Psychology and the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Antioch University Santa Barbara (AUSB) is approved by the California Psychological Association (CPA) to provide continuing professional education for psychologists. The California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) now recognizes CPA continuing education credit for renewal of all of their licenses. AUSB maintains responsibility for this program and its contents.
- $30 for 4 CE hours per each event
- $150 for 20 CE hours for attending all five symposia
