The Role of Mental Fortitude in Leadership
March 1, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm PST
In celebration of International Women’s Day, Antioch University of Santa Barbara’s MBA program is hosting a community workshop on “The Role of Mental Fortitude in Leadership.”
Author and entrepreneur Barbara Greenleaf will moderate the discussion with panelists Karen Mims of Towbes Group; Wendy Wood Yang of Deckers Brands; and Melissa Rick, Start Up Advisor.
Leading is easier said than done, and experts agree that a pivotal part of becoming a leader revolves around those who will “do the hard right over the easy wrong.” In this workshop, they will discuss mental fortitude and ways it can be cultivated and applied toward strengthening leadership skills. This esteemed panel will cite real-life examples from their own careers to demonstrate how one can develop the leadership qualities in themselves and others that lead to success.
Workshop visitors will learn answers to questions such as:
- How do you approach a boss who is off-track or unfocused
- How do you hold colleagues accountable for poor performance
- How do you speak up when others don’t in a team situation
- How do you remain unflappable in times of uncertainty
- How do you deflect bullies in the workplace
Free to all students and Antioch alumni; $40 for the general public.
