Kathleen Barry

Antioch University Santa Barbara

As a business professional, scholar, and depth psychotherapist, Dr. Kathleen A. Barry is an unusual hybrid. She began her career as an Executive Assistant and quickly rose to management positions. She proved herself by creating strong alliances at all levels, through exceptional performance, and by acquiring an MBA with a specialization in Human Resources Management. Her work in designing management and leadership programs, as well as developing strategies for conflict resolution and change management, drew her to the field of psychology.

After 10 years in the corporate world, she earned two additional Masters Degrees and a PhD. She has been a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California for close to 20 years and specializes in working with individuals, particularly women, at the crossroads of major life transitions.

Dr. Barry has enjoyed a variety of leadership roles, including management positions at Fortune 500 corporations, as the Chair of Strategic Planning for one of southern California’s top Family Resources Centers, as President of the Santa Barbara Chapter for Marriage and Family Therapists, as President of the Santa Barbara Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications, and as a prominent member of the Opus Archives and Research Center’s Board of Directors housed at Pacifica Graduate Institute. A member of Soroptomist International of Santa Barbara, Dr. Barry is a frequent contributor to its newsletter, “Soundings.”
