You work every day to create optimal opportunities for engaging others in scholarship and research, in the world of information and access. Now it is your turn.

In this cross-sector doctoral program, leaders in libraries have a special niche. The interdisciplinary curriculum explores topics that library organizations, such as the ALA, have identified as leadership and management competencies for future library leaders such as ethics, critical thinking, change management strategies,  collaboration and relational capacities, evidence-based decision making, and emotional intelligence.

The PhD in Leadership & Change is a unique learning community where self, profession, and society come together with diverse perspectives and experiences that enrich practice, expand scholarship and benefit the common good.

Imagine the opportunity.

Imagine the opportunity to study the scholarship, research and practice of leading change in libraries – big and small, academic or public, urban, suburban or rural, research-focused or community-based – with peer learners who are also leading complex change in communities across the country and internationally and in professions that similarly serve diverse clients and users.

Imagine the opportunity to study the scholarship, research and practice of leading change with an extraordinary team of interdisciplinary faculty who are renowned senior scholars, leadership researchers and change consultants.  They epitomize making a difference as public scholars and reflective practitioners.

Imagine the opportunity to frame your own doctoral journey of leading change in libraries around the professional curiosities and thorny questions that you find most compelling and in need of attention.

And, imagine doing this within a doctoral program that has its own embedded graduate research faculty librarian, who provides personalized attention and offers state-of-the-art research tools to support your study.

The PhD in Leadership and Change is a cross-sector doctoral program for working professionals.  Those leading change in libraries and information sciences will find a stimulating community of peer learners, caring experienced faculty, and a distinctive program offered by mission-driven university that is committed to an educational experience that enables students to advance social, economic and environmental justice.
