Percentage of time that could be remote (0-100%): The RA could perform all 10 hours remotely if they wish; this would involve setting up a microscope and lab equipment at home to identify mollusks in our Cape Cod samples.
Method to assess remote work: I am looking for an RA to identify mollusks and enter data from the samples we collected in 2018. I will check the RA’s identification and data entry to ensure QA/QC.
The Benthic Ecology Research Assistant will identify mollusks in samples collected by Dr. Rachel Thiet and her research team on Cape Cod National Seashore, as well as enter data. The RA will spend approximately eight hours per week identifying mollusks and two hours entering and checking data.
- Interest in salt marsh restoration and invertebrate ecology / zoology. 2. Very strong attention to detail. 3. Ability to work independently. 4. Tolerance for tedious lab work (e.g., microscope work, work with small specimens). 5. Comfort using a dissecting microscope.
