Job Description

Community Garden Connections (CGC) seeks creative, collaborative students to co-coordinate this food justice and garden-education initiative. CGC is committed to building local capacity to grow food and address issues of food insecurity related to climate change impacts, personal and communal health, and resiliency (http://www.antiochne.edu/cgc/). This position works closely with other CGC Co-Coordinators and faculty to support existing community garden sites (70 beds) located at social service agencies/nonprofits in the City of Keene. Some responsibilities are to: design, implement and evaluate educational workshops; foster relationships and support for CGC garden sites; build raised garden beds and design related educational events; educate and communicate with partners about gardening and food preparation; and co-coordinate all other necessary moving parts to this multifaceted initiative. Other important aspects are to contribute to community outreach through Antioch webpage, social media, local/regional press, and annual reporting; collaborate with other organizations in the Monadnock Region doing similar work; and creatively pursue service projects that address community-identified needs and fulfill CGC’s mission to increase access to food and to enhance community resiliency. Compliance with all Covid19 socially distancing, health and safety precautions required.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to have fun planning, preparing, and gardening with local organizations.

• Likes to and works well with a variety of people.

• Self-directed and motivated to move the project forward.

• Willing to learn new skills • Creativity, adaptability and collaborative spirit, particularly amid program redirections in light of Covid19 impacts. • Gardening, environmental education, curriculum design, social media savviness, cultural competency, grant writing, and/or evaluation experience preferred though not required.

• Possibly interested in continuing beyond the position end date.
