Job Description

1) Guide the planning and delivery of the Spring 2023 ES Graduate Student Symposium. Duties will include a range of tasks, including:

  • Inviting individuals and teams to propose presentations that highlight the work they have engaged with in the SP23 semester.
  • Reviewing proposal submissions, asking clarifying questions, and establishing a schedule of events, speakers, and presentations.
  • (Possibly?) Identifying potential guest speakers in ES faculty or AUNE alumni
  • Communicating updates and information about the symposium to students and faculty via the Wednesday Weekly newsletter and AUNE social media channels
  • Respond to student questions about the symposium or direct them to the appropriate resource
  • Distribute material from presenters to attendees
  • Promptly update schedule with any changes (and alert presenters/attendees)
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot technological difficulties
  • Facilitate Q&A sessions during the symposium, if applicable
  • Create a feedback document to distribute to students and faculty following the symposium
  • Arrange an opportunity before the symposium for students to practice their presentation and receive feedback from faculty and peers

2) ES Colloquium Engagement:

  • Review current attendance data for monthly ES colloquia and set targets for attendance
  • Broaden outreach via AUNE social media channels
  • Coordinate with Colloquium faculty organizers and ES staff to highlight colloquia in AUNE newsletters
  • Find outreach strategies used by other organizations (i.e. Keene State) that may be applicable for AUNE
  • Review attendance each month, and create a feedback form for attendees to assist in future colloquium planning
