Claremont School of Theology Graduates Have Antioch Ties
Claremont School of Theology recently conducted their 2018 Commencement and three of their graduates have Antioch University Los Angeles ties.
Karri Anne Backer, 2005 MA in Clinical Psychology graduate, received her PhD. Her dissertation title was “Compassion as a Response to Trauma: A Narrative Inquiry into Individuals Experiencing Secondary Trauma and the Compassion Practice.”
David Norgard, 2008 MA in Organizational Management graduate and teaching faculty in Graduate Studies in Nonprofit Management, received a Doctor of Ministry as well as a President’s Award for Academic Excellence. David’s professional project was “Rooted in Faith: An Examination of the Role of Religion in the Boardrooms of Faith-Based Nonprofits.”
Russell E. Thornhill, 2013 BA in Liberal Studies and 2014 MA Organizational Management graduate, was awarded a Master of Arts as well as the Jeanne Audrey Powers Award, which honored “the founding donor of the Center for Sexuality, Gender, and Religion…and lifelong advocate for ecumenicism and inclusiveness in the life of the Church.” Russell is a teaching faculty in Undergraduate Studies department and Co-Director of the Bridge Program.
Provost Mark Hower was in attendance at the ceremony, as well as several faculty members from the Nonprofit Management program and Undergraduate Studies department. Congratulations to Karri, David, and Russell!
