Victoria Chang was recently announced as Chair of Antioch University’s Creative Writing Department. Chang has been a Core Faculty member and part of the Antioch community since October 2017.
“Antioch is extremely fortunate to have a leader, educator, and poet of Victoria’s caliber to take direction of the MFA program,” said AULA Provost Dr. Mark Hower. “The program is fortunate to have her leadership moving forward.”
Chang is the author of Barbie Chang (Copper Canyon Press, 2017); The Boss (McSweeney’s, 2013), winner of a PEN Center USA Literary Award and a California Book Award; Salvinia Molesta (University of Georgia Press, 2008); and Circle (Southern Illinois University Press, 2005). Chang is also the editor of the anthology Asian American Poetry: The Next Generation (University of Illinois Press, 2004) and author of a picture book, Is Mommy? (Beach Lane Books, 2015), illustrated by Marla Frazee. Her collection OBIT, forthcoming in 2020 from Copper Canyon Press, won the 2018 Alice Fay Di Castagnola Award from the Poetry Society of America. She also has a middle-grade verse novel forthcoming.
Chang is a 2019 Macdowell Colony Fellow and a 2017 Guggenheim Fellow, among her many other awards and contributions to poetry. She currently serves on the National Book Critics Circle Board. Chang has an MFA in Creative Writing in Poetry from Warren Wilson, an MBA from Stanford an MA in East Asian Studies from Harvard, and a BA from the University of Michigan.
