The Queer Studies minor concentration emphasizes an activist orientation and advances the understanding of queerness as challenge and resistance to dominant paradigms in history, culture, and society. It combines a range of interdisciplinary courses and independent studies with opportunities for internships at pioneering community-based organizations in the Los Angeles area.
The Queer Studies minor concentration is available for undergraduate students pursuing a Liberal Studies degree who wish to customize their course of study in the area of Queer Studies. A minor area of concentration requires earning at least 20 units in the concentration; at least half of the units should be upper division and include appropriately chosen core courses as recommended by the student’s advisor.
