Celine has worked as a researcher, policy analyst, community organizer and educator specialized in issues of economic justice and urban sustainability.
Over the past few years, she worked as head researcher and policy analyst for the California Center for Sustainable Communities at UCLA as well as for the LA Regional Collaborative for Climate Change Action and Sustainability (LARC). At CCSC, she developed policy recommendations for city and state lawmakers on a range of sustainability issues. She was also part of the team that developed the regional climate action plan for LA County entitled, “A Greater LA: Climate Action Framework” (December 2016).
Before that, Celine spent many years as a community activist and organizer working on several campaigns related to affordable housing and urban planning issues in primarily low-income areas. Most recently, she worked as one of the head organizers for a campaign fighting the demolition of social housing projects home to nearly 2,000 people in west London, and advocating for the creation of a Community Land Trust owned and run by the residents. She lived in London for 5 years and earned her Masters degree from the London School of Economics in Social Policy and Planning in 2011.
Celine currently works as an educator and facilitator for the L.A. Co-op Lab, which supports the creation of worker cooperatives in communities often excluded from the traditional jobs market. She is also proud to be supporting the Right To The City Alliance in their efforts to grow a national movement for renters rights and community control over housing and land.
