Job Description and Any Special Skills:
This exciting position is especially well suited for a student in either the undergrad or one of the graduate programs who has an interest in literature and publishing. The student’s primary responsibility is to track and post the twice yearly issue of our BA in Creative Writing Program’s literary journal, Two Hawks Quarterly.com on our Word Press website. Each issue contains about 20-40 poems, stories, and/or essays.
Prior experience with Word Press (or a similar platform) and comfort with technology are required. Our current work/study student, who is graduating, has also participated very actively in selecting and helping to edit the work we’ve chosen to publish. Attention to detail very important. Writing and copyediting skills highly desirable.
The current work/study chose to attend most meetings of Two Hawks Quarterly students every Tuesday 4-7, although this is not mandatory. It is possible to do some of the technical tasks off-site with flexibility in the scheduling of these tasks. Work/study will interact closely and have near-daily contact with faculty supervisor. Work/study may also have periodic telephone contact with our tech consultant in Connecticut. Work/study may be asked to help train students in posting tasks, so should be patient with those less technically proficient and a good teacher.
