María de Jesús Gómez
BA in Liberal Studies '15
"I came to Antioch to claim my education. In the process of earning my BA, I sharpened my skills and obtained the right tools. I will now go out into the world to claim my life, the dreams I still have to accomplish, and build stronger communities. Now it’s just a matter of time. Upon my completion of the Bridge Program in 2007, I left knowing that one day I would come back to this place. Antioch is unique; it provides its students with a safe environment for self-expression, it offers a ton of resources and the quality of education one is hungry to attain. Here we learn not only about theory, but we also learn about human rights and responsibilities. The humanity of the professors, writing consultants, and staff members made the journey of my education an easier path to walk. This experience transformed my life. I was introduced to the academic world. I discovered that fitting in is all up to me. I grew not only intellectually, but also personally and spiritually. At Antioch University I accomplished two of many of my dreams—earning my BA and experiencing study abroad. I went to China!"
