“Life Worlds II”: Photography by John Lundy at YSAC Gallery

In March, the YSAC gallery will present John Lundy’s “Life Worlds II.” Lundy, is a Canadian photographer, philosopher, and social theorist. He moved to Yellow Springs in 2018 to take a position as Core Faculty in Interdisciplinary Studies at Antioch University Midwest.

Lundy is interested in the influence of culture and politics on art and media (particularly film and photography) and vice versa. “Lifeworlds II” is a retrospective collection of Lundy’s photographic work over the last decade. “The body of work offers up perspective on our shared worlds,” said Lundy.

“Lundy’s photos are visual poety,” said Dr. Renee Jackson, Assistant Professor at Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. “Quality photography, like poetry, reignites what we negligently allow to become mundane. It carefully attends to the beauty and detail of our surroundings in order to slap us reminders that we are actually witness to thousands of everyday tiny-big miracles.”

The exhibition will be on display from March 15th-April 14th. Opening reception, March 15th 6-9pm at the YSAC Community Gallery, 111 Corry St. Yellows Springs, Ohio.
