Alumna Publishes Essay in the Wright Memorial Public Library’s Art & Literary Zine (Glide)

Onita Morgan-Edwards, 2017 Bachelor of Arts in Management alumna from Antioch University Midwest, recently had her essay, “Shadows and Benefits of Doubt” published in the Wright Memorial Public Library’s Art & Literary Zine (Glide).

Onita submitted her essay to Glide when it called for submissions from local residents to capture experiences as a way to commemorate the library’s 80th Anniversary. The essay is the result of living in the United States as a person of color, learning to manage relationships with people of different races, and navigating a consistent flow of micro-aggressions.

Onita is currently working toward an MFA in Creative Writing at Ashland University. After volunteering for 14-months, she founded Writes of Passage Group–a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization–to create a safe space for juvenile detainees to write about their experiences. She is writing her first novel, a coming-of-age story about a Texas runaway.
