I have been a member of Antioch’s adjunct faculty since 2008, where I have been teaching courses in the EDS department. I currently work for the Miami Valley Regional Center as a State Support Team Consultant for Region 10. In this role. I provide professional development and on-site support for school districts and individual schools who are implementing Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports in addition to training school teams how to conduct functional behavior assessments and tto develop behavior intervention plans. In addition to this work, I am also a consultant for The Teaching Team, LLC where I train and provide embedded classroom support for teachers who are instructing both special education and general education students using 7 co-teaching models. I retired in 2012 from the public school system where I last worked as a special education administrator. My classroom teaching experience consists of a total of 11 years of experience teaching special education student’s ages preschool through age 22 in addition to being a work study coordinator for middle school and high school students.
Her classroom experience focused on teaching students with visual impairments, multiple disabilities, emotional disabilities, and autism. Prior to her retirement in March of 2012, she was a Special Education Coordinator for the Kettering City Schools. While working for Kettering City Schools she was responsible for supervising special education staff and students at Kettering Fairmont High School and also at John F. Kennedy Elementary School. The students under her supervision were served in all areas of LRE for students with disabilities. She has also worked as a support to building administrators, general education teachers, mental health therapists, classroom aides, and related service staff in their pursuit of educating students with disabilities in the general education classroom and in special education classroom settings. While working in Kettering she worked as part of a school based team to develop an elementary and high school RTI model and supported co-teaching teams at all grade levels K-12.
