AUNE Group Holds Workshop to Get Community Gardens Geared Up
The workshop was the last of three workshops held this spring. Parties to build raised beds at each of the sites will be held over the next few months.
CGC’s purpose is to build local capacity to grow food and address issues of food insecurity such as climate change, personal and communal health, and resiliency. With the help of a private donation from the Rashti Foundation, CGC is helping with the installation and cooperative maintenance of six raised-bed gardens, in partnership with local service agencies, students, and community members.
CGC began with community gardens at two sites, Harper Acres and Keene Recreation Center, in 2011. This year, CGC is adding four more sites: Woodward Home; Keene Housing Authority’s Building Bridges Clubhouse Youth Program; the Keene Senior Center; and a partnership between the Keene Family YMCA and Monadnock Family Services’ InSHAPE Program.
