AUNE’s Net Impact Chapter Earns Gold Standing
Antioch University New England’s (AUNE) Net Impact chapter has been awarded a prestigious Gold rating by Net Impact. The standings, based on the chapter’s performance in the past academic year, represent the most outstanding chapters in the Net Impact network.
Net Impact is a nonprofit, volunteer-led network of more than 290 chapters whose members use their business skills in changing the world to help people and planet as well as making a profit.
This year, just sixteen percent of Net Impact chapters worldwide achieved Gold standing. Chapters achieve Gold or Silver standing by meeting a rigorous set of requirements based on their activities, programming, and membership reach. “Each year, Gold chapters raise the bar and mobilize students and professionals to use their careers for good. Their critical support provides members real-world projects that build professional skills and a community of peers who work together to achieve their high-impact goals,” said Liz Maw, CEO of Net Impact. “Gold chapters are at the forefront of the movement to build a new generation of business leaders.”
AUNE’s MBA in Sustainability program launched a chapter of Net Impact in 2007. The chapter continues its momentum into the coming year with monthly events starting in September and plans to bring a large presence to the next Net Impact Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, in October.
AUNE’s activities this year were led by a team of seven that included co-leaders Rosie Gallant and Becky Holt, and Polly Chandler, advisor to Net Impact AUNE and program director of the MBA in Sustainability. They held regular networking events and launched the Perpetual Food Pledge, which acknowledges that hunger is a year-round concern and asks those who pledge to donate an item of food every time they shop.
Gold and Silver chapters are recognized publicly within the Net Impact network and in their local communities. They will receive special designation in Business as UNusual, Net Impact’s annual publication showcasing how business programs incorporate social and environmental responsibility into their offerings, among other benefits.
