Roger Peterson Receives Prestigious Award
Roger L. Peterson, professor, Distinguished Senior Scholar, and past chairperson of AUNE’s Department of Clinical Psychology, has received an American Psychological Association (APA) presidential citation for his contributions to professional psychology. The citation was awarded by APA President Nadine Kaslow at the winter meeting of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology, held January 20-25 in New Orleans.

The award says:
American Psychological Association presents this presidential citation to Roger L. Peterson, PhD, ABPP for his landmark contributions in competency-based education and training, development of innovative models of professional psychology, and commitments to the enhancement of quality in the profession.
Professor and Distinguished Senior Scholar at Antioch University, New England, board certified in clinical psychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology, and a well-respected private practitioner, Dr. Peterson has been a foundation for the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology (NCSPP). As Past-President of NCSPP, he chaired national conferences; was senior editor of the Core Curriculum in Professional Psychology; senior author of “The National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology Educational Model,” and co-editor of Competency-Based Education for Professional Psychology that includes an updated model paper. He received the NCSPP Distinguished Professional Psychologist Award for Exemplary Contributions to Professional Psychology Education in 2008. Also, a major contributor to accreditation, Dr. Peterson served on the American Psychological Association’s Commission on Accreditation for 11 years.
