Registration Opens Now for Northeast Climate Change Preparedness Conference
Registration is now open for the LOCAL SOLUTIONS: Northeast Climate Change Preparedness Conference, hosted by Antioch University New England and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regions 1 & 2 on May 19-21, 2014, in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Hands-on Agenda for Decision Makers
The conference is designed for local planners and decision makers from throughout the region, from the northern Chesapeake Bay to Canada’s Eastern Maritime provinces. You’ll learn how to build health and resiliency into community plans, and how to prepare for severe weather and the impacts of climate change.

- Conduct vulnerability assessments
- Protect natural and societal mechanisms that maintain resilience
- Frame and create plans that allow a community to adapt
- Build community support to implement adaptive responses
- Effectively use the government in responding to climate change
- Network with schools, community planners and leaders working toward solving similar problems
Travel Grants Available
We’re partnering with several organizations to help defray your costs to attend the conference. To meet the deadline, you must apply by February 26. Available funds cover travel expenses and registration fees, and other support options are being solicited. Stay tuned to our Travel Grants website.

Call for Posters
The Call for Poster Presentations seeks student submissions of applied research related to topics, from all disciplines and methodologies, in any of the conference track or session themes for Days 1 and 2 (May 19 and 20). Undergraduate and graduate students from U.S. and Canadian institutions are eligible. Presentation abstracts are due on February 27. Posters will be judged; $250 will be awarded to the best candidate. See the criteria here.
