What’s Up with the Local Dairy Industry? Find Out March 27
The public is invited to a panel on Local Food Systems: Challenges & Opportunities in the Dairy Sector, Thursday, March 27, at Antioch University New England (AUNE). Dr. Taryn E. Fisher, assistant professor and director of AUNE’s MBA in Sustainability program, will host the free event. It will be held at 7 p.m. in the Community Room on the AUNE campus, 40 Avon Street, Keene, New Hampshire.
The panelists will explore topics in the local food supply chain, including dairy farming, milk processing, and retail distribution. They’ll share their unique points of view about economic viability and about consumer buying trends.
The panelists are:

About Joshua Cline
Joshua Cline is the director of Stonewall Farm, a nonprofit educational organization in Keene whose mission is agricultural education. Stonewall is a working farm, milking twenty-four head of certified organic cows, and with three acres of garden, three greenhouses, and a maple sugaring operation. It welcomes more than 20,000 visitors a year. Joshua is focusing the farm on appropriate technology for small New England farms, including micro-pasteurizing, year round CSA, and small scale grains and barley fodder.
Previously he was director of the New Hampshire Rivers Council, operations manager for Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, wildlife educator for New Hampshire Audubon, and a park ranger for fourteen years. He lives in a solar-powered house with his family and llamas.
About Matt Degrosky
Matt Degrosky manages Neighbor Made, a food processing firm that started up in Keene two years ago. It partners with a dozen local businesses that manufacture farm-to-pantry, shelf-stable specialty food products. A fully licensed commercial kitchen, Neighbor Made provides the equipment, know-how, packaging, and distribution to help aspiring chefs produce their favorite recipes and distribute them to stores throughout New England and online. Previously Matt managed the True Nut Company, which produces maple-roasted almonds.
About Michael Faber
Michael Faber started his co-op career in 2000 at the Berkshire Co-op Market in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. In 2007 he was hired as general manager of Wild Oats Market in Williamstown, Massachusetts, and in November 2011, he went to work as the general manager of the Monadnock Food Co-op.
Michael guided the co-op through its pre-opening and continues to act as general manager since the doors opened in April 2013. Michael’s food and farming experience includes working for the Northeast Organic Farming Association and Berkshire Grown, in addition to producing much of his own food including maple syrup, eggs, chicken, and vegetables.
About Taryn Fisher
Before joining AUNE, Taryn worked for almost twenty years as a supply chain management executive for blue-chip firms, including The Gillette Company, Procter & Gamble, and Fidelity Investments. She lives with her husband, Matt, and two dogs in Contoocook, New Hampshire.
