AUNE’s Michael Simpson to Give Keynote at MAWD Annual Meeting and Tradeshow
Michael Simpson, department chair and core faculty in the Antioch University New England (AUNE) Department of Environmental Studies, and director of the AUNE Center for Climate Preparedness and Community Resilience (CCPCR), will present the keynote at the Minnesota Association of Watershed Districts (MAWD) annual meeting and tradeshow December 3-5, 2015, in Alexandria, Minnesota. The MAWD meeting offers a strong seminar program and is a must for watershed district officials, and key watershed district partners.
Simpson will incorporate the Center’s recent research project on municipal storm water vulnerability in the Minneapolis and Victoria, Minnesota, areas as part of his keynote, “Preparing Communities for an Uncertain Future in Light of a Changing Landscape and Climate.” Much of Simpson’s decades of research has focused on working with local stakeholders to identify potential risks from projected climate and land-use change, followed by developing an adaptation strategy for communities to build for projected impacts.
