Dr. Shoshana Fagen to Serve as Advocacy Committee Co-Chair of MPA
Shoshana Fagen, PsyD (Antioch 2012) has agreed to serve as Advocacy Committee Co-chair of the Massachusetts Psychological Association (MPA). As the MPA announcement states:
Shoshana became interested in advocacy while participating in mental health crisis work. There she encountered multiple barriers to obtaining clinically indicated and timely treatment for people in crisis.
Shoshana’s accomplishments in three years on the Advocacy Committee include co-authoring MPA’s position paper on proposed legislation to ban conversion therapy with children and adolescents. Shoshana was also part of an MPA team that met with the bill’s proponents and convinced them to modify the bill’s language. The revision ensures that clinicians can provide appropriate treatment, while banning the practice of conversion therapy for youth.
Shoshana completed her internship and post-doctoral hours at Community Healthlink: Youth and Family Services
in Worcester. Since then, she has been working at Franciscan Children’s in Brighton and for Psychiatric Emergency Services. She is a member of MPA’s Disaster MentalHealth team and an American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Specialist.
