Program Overview
Managing information in the 21st century is complex, exciting, and rewarding work that extends beyond the scope of the traditional librarian. School libraries serve more and more as “learning studios” for students and for teachers. Libraries provide access and resources for a broader set of learning experiences, from exploring new genres of literature and applications for technology to joining the Maker Movement and solving meaningful problems of pedagogy and practice.
With the increasing changes in the use of media and technology in schools and classrooms, these tools should be guided by leadership and pedagogical strategies rooted in the integration of instruction, information, and technology. Antioch University New England is committed to developing the Library Media Specialists that schools need today: facile in the use of sound facilitation, leadership, and instructional strategies; informed about the latest trends in education, information, media, and technology; and prepared for the changes and innovations to come over the course of their careers.
