We seek a student research assistant interested in conducting research aimed at the conservation of 4 rare turtle species in Massachusetts: Blanding’s Turtle, Spotted Turtle, Wood Turtle, and Eastern Box Turtle. The research assistant will work with AUNE faculty and collaborators including Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife and American Turtle Observatory. Duties include: field work including hoop trapping and radio-telemetry; data entry, management, and analysis; literature reviews; GIS analysis; report preparation.
Applicants must have:
- Interest in conduct field research with rare turtle species
- Excellent data management skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
Previous experience with GIS, Excel, R, population and/or habitat modeling, GPS, animal handling (especially turtle species), hoop trapping, and radio-telemetry are also desirable.
