Method to assess work: TA’s will attend weekly classes and set-up office hours to provide student support for homework and other assignments. Assessment will be via feedback from students and via observation from instructor. Outcomes include increased student support and increased student learning.
Attend class sessions (3 hours/week) and help answer questions and provide support to small groups of students during in-class laboratory exercises. Assist with proofing R scripts prior to in-class exercises (1-2 hours/week) and assist with grading submitted assignments (1-3 hours/week). Arrange time outside of class to be available to groups of students working on class assignments and provide tutoring in biostatistical content and skills and in the use of R statistical software to individual students enrolled in the course who need additional support outside class throughout the semester (1-3 hours/week). Work will occur during class time as well as outside of class as arranged with individuals or groups of students.
Applicants must have previously taken Environmental Data Analysis (ES-5191), Biostatistics (ES 5190), or a similar course at another university. In addition, applicants must have: 1) Strong proficiency in univariate statistical analyses and R statistical software 2) Excellent communication skills 3) Ability and interest in working with other graduate students to build knowledge and confidence in analytical skills
