Graduation (Degree Conferral)

Home Departments & Offices Office of The Registrar Graduation (Degree Conferral)

Graduation is not an event; it is the date student degrees are formally processed (conferred) after degree requirements are completed. Antioch University processes degree conferrals multiple times throughout the year at the end of each term. The last day of the term is used as the Graduation / Degree date.

Path to Completion

Graduation / Degree Conferral

The Registrar’s Office reviews prospective graduate records (Degree Audit) for completion based on submitted Graduation Applications. Students are expected to pre-check their own student record by reviewing their Credit History and DAR (Degree Audit Report) through their student login. All evaluations must be posted and requirements completed by the end of the term in order to qualify for conferral.

Degree processing begins on the conferral date each term and occurs for approximately two weeks after the conferral date as final evaluations are posted.

Students can find complete details about the Degree Conferral Process and conferral requirements on the Registrar Information Site – click the Registrar Button on AUDirect.

Graduation Application (Intent to Graduate Form)

In order to be considered for conferral, all students must submit a Graduation Application (found through the student login). This form alerts the conferral team and student program of their intent to graduate.

Based on their Anticipated Completion Date (ACD), students are prompted in their penultimate term to submit their Grad App for the term in which they plan to submit their final requirements. Students who do not submit a Graduation Application in a timely manner may experience delays in conferral processing and receipt of student records.

Student Records

Diploma/Certificate

Monthly diploma & certificate processing begins on the 10th of each month. Diplomas & certificates are produced and shipped from the Antioch University Records Office in Yellow Springs, OH.

Antioch diplomas include degree and Major / Area of Study and do not include concentrations or specializations.

Transcript

This is the official record of the requirements students have completed for their degree. Students ordering official transcripts before the conferral date must request that the transcript be held for degree conferral if they wish to have the degree posted on the transcript. Official transcripts can be ordered through the National Student Clearinghouse.

Commencement

The University Registrar Team manages the Degree Conferral process which is separate from Commencement.

Each campus holds its own Commencement Ceremony. This annual day of celebration brings together participants from all the academic departments to celebrate everyone’s achievement of their degree. Commencement is not an official degree conferral date, and students do not receive diplomas at this event.

Please see the Commencement page for details. After reviewing the Commencement information students should follow up with their program office or the Commencement Team for further information.
