AUSB hosts next meeting of the MFT Consortium of the Central Coast Region

The spring quarterly meeting of the MFT Consortium of the Central Coast Region will take place from 9:00 am until Noon on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Antioch University Santa Barbara, 801 Garden Street in Santa Barbara. This meeting will focus on health care reform and will include an update on how it will impact the MFT profession. Two CEUs will be provided. The presenter will be Olivia Loewy, Ph.D. addressing the very timely topic of:

“HEALTH CARE REFORM UPDATE: POTENTIAL IMPACT TO THE MFT PROFESSION.”

Olivia Loewy, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the California Division of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT-CA). Olivia also represents the interests of MFTs at a state level through her active involvement with the California Council of Community Mental Health Agencies (CCCMHA), the California Institute of Mental Health (CiMH) Policy Forum Planning Committee, and the California Department of Mental Health, Education and Training Unit.  Olivia is a licensed MFT and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor.

Prior to her current position, she served for 10 years as the Clinical Director at Verdugo Mental Health in Glendale, CA. As an extension of the national association, AAMFT-CA is working towards the advancement, unification and definition of the MFT profession. Through legislative advocacy, aggressive participation in the California public policy arena, revision of the education/training standards for MFTs and development of an inclusive, responsive professional association, Olivia is striving to fortify a solid place for MFTs within the current and evolving mental health care treatment continuum.

Please RSVP at your earliest convenience (and no later than June 5, 2011) to Lauren Smoldt, Program Coordinator: lsmoldt@antioch.edu or 805.962.8179 extension 5326.
