“Love, Loss, and What I Wore” Benefit
Antioch University Santa Barbara produced a special benefit performance of the hit play “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” by Delia and Nora Ephron on May 6th. The show, a scrapbook of stories about high heels, unfortunate prom dresses, and the humiliation of possessing a messy handbag, opened off Broadway in 2009.
The Santa Barbara cast included California State Senator Hannah Beth Jackson, six-time Emmy nominee Meredith Baxter, Hattie Winston, Kathryne Dora Brown, and Lily Gibson. The five actresses took turns reflecting on life passages through the clothes that characterized them.
Lily Gibson, who played Morgan Matthews in Boy Meets World, spoke with us after the show.
“I hadn’t read the story before Jenny, our director, approached me about it. And it blew my mind. It was so personal and specific to these people, whose amazing stories created this play, and yet it was exactly me and everything I lived through. And I think that’s what people really love about this play.”
All proceeds benefit Antioch University Santa Barbara’s scholarships and academic programs.
