Shana Hormann Appointed New Dean
Shana Hormann has been appointed Antioch University Seattle’s new associate academic dean and dean of students to oversee student affairs and concerns.
This new office reflects Antioch’s institutional commitment to provide more comprehensive and seamless services to its students, according to Catherine Koverola, Antioch Seattle’s interim vice president of academic affairs and dean of faculty.
“I am confident that under Shana’s capable leadership, services to students on our campus will be significantly enhanced,” Koverola said.
As associate academic dean, Hormann is a central member of the office of the vice president of academic affairs and will serve as acting vice president of academic affairs in Koverola’s absence.
Hormann will continue her work on Native education initiatives and serve as a member of the leadership team for the “Seamless Pathways” collaboration for Antioch Seattle, Muckleshoot Tribal College, The Evergreen State College, Grays Harbor Community College and Northwest Indian College.
Hormann has a B.A. in Sociology and an M.S.W. from the University of Washington. She received her Ph.D. in Leadership and Change from Antioch University. She has been with Antioch University Seattle since 1998 and holds a core faculty position in the M.A. in Organizational Psychology program. For two years, she served as interim director for the MA Programs in Leadership and Change. During the current academic year, she served as associate academic dean, including taking the lead for the First People’s Programs in Creative Change in partnership with the Muckleshoot Tribal College.
Hormann is passionate about strengthening resilience, especially working with organizations and communities. Organizational trauma, leadership and resilience have been her focus.
