Paul David’s Retirement Celebration Is Coming Soon!

Join us for Paul David’s Retirement Celebration and final lecture on Friday, June 7th, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Antioch University Seattle (new building address: 2400 3rd Ave, Seattle, WA 98121).

Paul David has made monumental contributions to Antioch University and the field of Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) and this event is an excellent opportunity for the Antioch community to thank and celebrate him.

More Information About Paul David (by Kirk Honda)

Paul David HeadshotIn 1995, Paul David founded the Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) Program at Antioch University Seattle. Without his initiative and hard work, the program would simply not exist. Through his leadership, it became the largest MFT program in the region, with over 190 current students and 14 full-time faculty. There was a lot of adversity and trials during his 20 years as program director, and he tenaciously and resolutely fought for the rights of his faculty, staff, and students.

He has personally shepherded hundreds of students from application, through their coursework, and into the field of MFT. For hundreds of novice therapists in the Seattle area, he has provided supervision and assistance to their early careers. He also mentored several faculty members who later became leaders in the field. He has published various works over the years including an article on his integration of the Gottman and Johnson approaches, published in The Family Journal in 2015. He has also received numerous distinguished service awards, including the WAMFT Educator of the Year and the Antioch University Seattle Faculty Merit Award for Excellence.

For the past 40 years, Paul has had a hand in building the careers of hundreds of MFTs in Washington State, and those MFTs have gone on to make a positive difference in the lives of thousands. I can’t think of anyone else more deserving of the WAMFT Distinguished Clinical Fellow Award.
