You are invited to join our BA in Liberal Studies graduating senior students as they present their program research and creative projects for graduation at the Fall 2018 Senior Symposium.

12:30 pm Micky Morris – Taste the Music

Hear the chocolate and taste the music. Micky Morris presents a unique music-taste dialogue, breaking down the walls between our senses. Pairing live opera performance with meticulously crafted chocolates, Micky creates a conversation between flavor and sound. He shows how combining our senses unlocks a new perspective that allows for a deeper appreciation of lived experiences.

4 pm Brie Kuhn – The Hero’s Journey to Leadership

Nearly every story of a Hero’s Journey starts with a moment where we are given a choice that ultimately determines our destiny. Brie Kuhn recounts the trials and tribulations that ultimately prepared for obstacles within her career and personal life. The narrative of the Hero’s Journey led to a personal victory through spiritual growth, career development and self-love. She shows how to overcome those inhibitors that make change seem unfathomable.

5 pm Simon Ajegi – Media for Social Change

Simon Ajegi believes the media is a great tool in bringing about social change in society. He shares his story of how he used the media to create awareness about the HIV/Aids epidemic in Africa. He explores the use of the media to create social change around the world.

7 pm Steven Rachal – Walking Again

Over 30,000 people are killed in the U.S. every year by gun violence. Thousands more who survive, or witness gun violence, unknowingly suffer from the effect of trauma and never seek formal help. In his own words, Steven Rachal shares his story of how he became victorious in his battle against fear and depression after being shot in the back on the streets of Seattle.
